Whether you're inviting your best friend over for a sleepover or just have family popping by, it's important to understand the guidelines in place to keep yourself and others safe when it comes to guests and visitors in halls.
Key guidelines to follow
- Permission to have guests over is not automatic – do not promise others they can stay before you have obtained written permission from the Residence Life team.
- You need to request permission at least 24 hours before your guest arrives.
- You can only have one overnight guest at a time in your room/flat, for a maximum of 3 days per calendar month.
- You also need to inform your flatmates of your guest. If the flat is uncomfortable with your guest, we will ask your guest to leave campus.
Guest behaviour and conduct
It's important to note that the behaviour and conduct of your guests is your responsibility. Your guests must follow the same rules and regulations as other residents.
If your guests misbehave or cause to damage to the university's property, you will be held accountable. This means that you will be liable for the repair or replacement cost of any damage or disturbance.
The Residence Life team and/or Safeguarding team can ask your guests to leave the premises at any time. Of course, we don't want this to happen and we want you to have the best experience possible, so please make sure you and your guests are respectful on their visit.
Follow this easy guidance to make sure yourself and others are safe in halls while still having fun!
